Time is Gold by Kenia Morales

Time is the coin of your life. It is the only coin you have, and only you can determine how it will be spent. Be careful lest you let other people spend it for you. Carl Sandburg (1878 - 1967)

How do you spend most of your spare time? Do you sit in front of the TV for hours? Do you speak on the phone for long periods of time? Do you sit outside and watch your neighbors come and go? Do you play computer games? I personally do not believe that any of the activities I mentioned above are wrong. To maintain our sanity we must also have time to relax and socialize. However, when you allow any of these time consuming or addictive behaviors to take over your life then there is an imbalance and, it is most likely preventing you from engaging on other productive activities. An example of this is: When a teenager looses track of time playing video games and does not do his or her homework. If such a problem happens only once then it might not be a big deal. However, if this behavior continues then it might lead to failing the class. Not a good thing!

If you are thinking: school days are over for me so, this does not apply to me you are wrong! As long as you have dreams, desires, goals etc. There’s always something to do. Have you being thinking of starting your own business? Then you should probably be doing some research. Would you like to see changes in y our community? Then you should join a local association that focuses on helping the neighborhood.

Here are some tips that can help you maintain track of time and how well it is spent:

- Asses yourself, is your life leading towards your personal desires? What changes would you have to make?
- Setting and defining goals in a timely manner
- Scheduling your time; long term and short term
- Schedule and limit your leisure time in order to avoid distractions

Spend your time well,

Kenia Morales

How A Three Month Newbie and Marketing Dummy Made It By Brandon

Who would have thought that a four month newbie and marketing dummy can actually make money online? Me neither. I had no idea what to do, how to do or why. Clarity means: 1. To know what you want 2. To Know why you want it 3. Most importantly, to know what you love to do. There are many ways to make money, and it need not necessarily be internet marketing. I might be slapping myself on the cheek for saying so, after all, I'm using the Internet as an marketing channel and conducting my business online. But I'd rather be honest with you. There's a saying that goes "Do what you love, and you would have retired"Once I realize this truth, I went about doing that which I love. Creating information products for the purpose of educating people in subject areas I am interested in, such as the use of blogs and rss for marketing. Breaking down complex subjects into the simplest form so that people can understand and use it. Most people are not simply doing what they were put here on this planet to do. Add to this the fact that most people DO NOT KNOW WHAT THEY WANT, despite what they might think or say to themselves. It's quite easy to prove this. Ask anyone if they want to have a million dollars and the answer will be a resounding YES! probe further and ask them what and why they want the money, and it'll just be a general answer like 'freedom', 'travel', etc. Try it out at your workplace tomorrow. You'll see what I mean. If someone ask me this question, I can tell that person very specifically what exactly I want to spend the money on which will total up to exactly 1 million dollars. But here's the tricky part. How do you find out exactly what you want, what is it that you love to do? My book, 'How A NewBie MadeIt Online" teaches you a surefire way to gain clarity as clear as the morning sun rise. www.how-a-newbie-madeit-online.com

5 Ways To Reduce Holiday Stress

Are those bells ringing in your ears a sign of holiday cheer or a sign of too much stress? Don't let this Holiday Season slip by in a blur of over scheduling. Commit to making changes -- one step at a time and you'll discover the gift of a more enjoyable year-end celebration. As you juggle the complexities of work, home and family, here are 5 simple steps that may help you become as jolly as ol' St. Nick. 5. Develop an list of everything you would like to do THIS Holiday Season, then prioritize in order to get the most amount of joy from the limited amount of time you have to spend with family, friends and coworkers. Remember, this year's priorities may look different than those of holidays past! 4. Express gratitude. What a great time of year to thank all of those people who make your life worth living! Don't let the hustle and bustle of the season steal away your opportunity to be thankful for the people, experiences and events (both good and bad) that made this year unique and memorable. If you're sending greeting cards, why not add a personalized message about why you are thankful for having the recipient in your life. 3. Learn to say NO -- put YOU first sometimes. It's ok to say no! I repeat: it is ok to say NO! Schedule some "alone time" during the holidays so you can reduce the temptation to take on too many responsibilities that may cause a meltdown at the worst possible moment. 2. Choose your battles wisely. As the end of the year quickly approaches, you may be pulled in too many directions and it may be impossible for you to attend every get together. Holidays are often full of over taxed emotions so, rather than succumbing to a confrontation, try to approach each situation as an opportunity to accommodate the most important needs of those involved. Express your opinion about the little things that are causing extra stress instead of hiding those emotions that may cause your temper to reach the boiling point. 1. Life really is about the journey. Savor the moments! That is a difficult concept for those of us who are always striving toward a particular goal. Savoring the moment means allowing yourself enough time to celebrate each activity before rushing on to the next event. BONUS Stress Reducer: Buy copies of the Rat Race Relaxer Book -- 52 stress busting tips, one for every week of 2005 -- a gift that will challenge you and your friends to get what you want in return for running the rat race! While the keys may appear simple, they are guaranteed to help you tackle the rat race head-on, and turn it into a race than can be run --and won-- by charting your own course rather than navigating someone else's.

The 5 Inner Enemies That Will Stop You From Achieving Your Goals

===========================================================
"The 5 Inner Enemies That Will Stop You From Achieving Your Goals"- by Veronica Lim
(c) Veronica Lim. All Rights Reserved. http://www.daregoals.com
===========================================================

Sometimes we are our own worst enemy. We aren't born that way nor do we mean to be that way, butit can often come about because of our past experiences,what someone may have told us, what we've read in thepapers… and then without realising, we develop these innerenemies. How many of them can you identify with?

(1) The Confused Indecision-makerYou will often hear the Confused Indecision-Makercomplaining about the way things are, and how much better itwould be if things were different. It's often "someoneelse's" fault too. But if you stopped them and asked, "Whatdo you want then?" they usually find it hard to give you ananswer. They know what they don't want, but they don't knowwhat they do want. As a result, they don't make decisionsthat will take them closer to what they want, nor do theyrecognise it when what they want is staring them between theeyes.

(2) The HistorianThere are three aspects to the Historian. The first is thathistorians think that because it hasn't happened in the pastor that they haven't made it happen in the past, that itwon't happen in the future. The second aspect is that theykeep on thinking with the same mindset as in the past, andso never begin to see things with a new perspective or comeup with new ideas. And the third is that they arecontinually bemoaning how wonderful things were in "the goodold days" that they fail to notice what's good about today.

(3) The Doubting ThomasOne of the favourite utterances of the Doubting Thomas is,"See! I told you so!" The Doubting Thomas is the person whoeither thinks that it can't be done or that they can't doit. So they don't put any effort into getting what theywant, and then, when it doesn't happen, they get to beright! At other times, the Doubting Thomas may well puteffort into getting what they want, but then spend theirtime worrying about it and wondering if it will ever happen.This causes them to feel stressed and tired.

(4) The Scaredy CatPart of the "price" for achieving our goals is to moveoutside of our comfort zone and to do some new things thatwe may not have undertaken before. The reward is that thishelps us to grow as a person. It takes us to new heights,while also enabling us to experience adventure and fun. TheScaredy Cat though, will prefer to stand on the sidelines,watching others do what they do and marvel at how courageousand clever other people are. Often, Scaredy Cats are greatat cheering others on, and they may "excuse" themselves fornot venturing out of their comfort zones by being "modest".But deep down, they may secretly wish that they were braveenough themselves too… if only they could overcome theirfear of failure.

(5) The Scatterbrain"Roll up, roll up! This is the latest and the greatest!" Sothe Scattergun diverts their attention yet again to thelatest good idea and that becomes their new goal. Thetrouble is that they haven't allowed sufficient time fortheir earlier ideas to germinate and to take root, not tomention taking appropriate action, before they are offagain, chasing the next rainbow. So, be willing to meet your enemies face to face! Greetthem! Thank them for having been there in the past, but nowbe courageous enough to bid them good-bye. And in theirplace, embrace the person you want to become.

Home Business Legalities And Tax Advantages

Even if you work out of your home, most cities and/or counties require you to have a business license and/or permit. Check with your local government municipalities to find out what the requirements are for where you live. Depending on where you live, you should be able to get this information from your local courthouse or townhall. Zoning may also be an issue. Municipal ordinances can be very restrictive about what types of businesses are allowed in a residential district. This also applies if you plan on placing a sign outside of your home. Again, check with your local government municipalities to find out what the requirements are for where you live.In addition, depending on how your home business is structured--as a sole proprietorship, partnership or corporation--there may be forms to file with the state. The legal structure affects taxes and the liability of the owner and the home business, so it's important to follow the appropriate procedures. Contact your state's Department of Revenue for filing fees and information.If you plan to operate your home business under a name other than your own, you will have to register a fictitious name with the county--usually referred to as a DBA filing (Doing Business As). The exceptions to this regulation are corporations and partnerships doing business under the umbrella of the corporate or partnership name.As a home business owner, you may be required to file estimated tax returns and pay estimated taxes quarterly. If you have employees, you also have to submit taxes withheld from employee paychecks. Here are some of the taxes you may be responsible for: Employment taxes -- Federal income taxes, Social Security and Medicare, federal unemployment and state income taxes. Federal self-employment tax--Required by those who work for themselves to cover Social Security and Medicare contributions. Sales tax--Each state requires a sales tax number for any company involved in selling tangible items. Sales tax is collected, reported and paid to the state either monthly or quarterly.Unemployment insurance tax -- You are required to pay federal and state unemployment taxes if you have more than one employee on the books for at least 20 weeks in a calendar year, or if they have paid more than $1,500 in gross wages in a calendar quarter. Again, check with your state's Department of Revenue for more information.A home business qualifies for all of the same tax deductions regular businesses do. In the eyes of the IRS, the only difference between most home businesses and Fortune 500 Companies is their size, and the fact that home businesses can also deduct many household and living expenses.Owning a home business will entitle you to deduct thousands of dollars in every day expenses. After all, why pay more in taxes than you have to? Listed below are just some of the items you are allowed to deduct:

* Your car and car expenses.
* Your mileage.
* Your home computer, printer and other office equipment.
* Your home. If you're not a homeowner, you are allowed to deduct the area where your home office is set-up.
* If you're a homeowner, you may deduct a portion of your property taxes and utilities.
* Your travel expenses.
* Your restaurant meals, entertainent, dinner parties.
* You may pay wages, tax free, to two of your children, if they are involved with the business.
* You may deduct your families health insurance.

NOTE: To qualify for the above tax deductions, you must be actively working your home business. In closing, since tax laws are continually changing, I highly recommend you consult with your accountant or tax advisor to learn more about applying the aforementioned deductions to your home business.

Be Aware of Phishing Scams! by Nowshade Kabir

If you use emails actively in your communication, you must have received various messages claiming to be from Ebay, Paypal and a number of banks. A recent email as if from U.S. Bank Corporation that I received contains the subject "U.S. Bank Fraud Verification Process" and in the body of the mail it says "We recently reviewed your account, and suspect that your U.S. Bank Internet Banking account may have been accessed by an unauthorized third party. Protecting the security of your account and of the U.S. Bank network is our primary concern. Therefore, as a preventative measure, we have temporarily limited access to sensitive account features. To restore your account access, please take the following steps to ensure that your account has not been compromised:". It continues with a link to a webpage, which looks very similar to original web page of the bank.The misleading web site appears authentic with familiar graphics and logos. The wordings are professional right down to the legal disclaimer at the bottom of the page.If you happened to be holding an account of the claimed bank, followed the instructions of the email and input your account, pin, password, etc. you are doomed. You just have handed over access to your account to a con artist, who, in a matter of days, will drain off all the money available in that account.This new scam, which is proliferating in a very rapid pace, is called "Phishing". Phishing is a form of identity theft, where a con artist with the help of official looking email containing link to phony web pages capable of harvesting information, tricks an unsuspecting victim into divulging sensitive personal data. Scammers use these data to bilk victims out of their savings.One of the most common phishing campaigns being waged has targeted users of Web auction giant eBay and its PayPal division with financial services giant Citibank serving as another popular target. However, recently, every major bank has been hit with this scam. Crooks send out huge amounts of emails with an expectation that some of these email address owners may have online access to their accounts at the bank. The term "Phishing" is a deviation of the word "Fishing". In hackers’ lexicon, in many words, "F" becomes "Ph". The term derives from the fact that scammers use sophisticated bait as they "fish" for users’ personal information.According to Gartner, a research firm, illegal access to checking accounts gained via phishing has become into the fastest growing type of consumer theft in the United States. Roughly 1.98 million people reported that their checking account was breached in one way or another during the last year and US$ 2.4 billion were defrauded from the victims!Gartner also estimated that 57 million U.S. Internet users have received phishing emails and 3 percent of them may have fooled into revealing their personal sensitive information.The Anti-Phishing Working Group has also spotted a dramatic increase in reports of phishing attacks in recent months. Since November, 2003 phishing scams increase by about 110 percent each month. In April alone, the group identified 1125 unique phishing scams, a sharp lift of 178 percent from the previous month.MessageLabs, a company that watches phishing scams closely, has noted an even more dramatic increase in number of phishing emails. It claims to see phishing messages jump from just 279 in September, 2003 to a staggering 215,643 in March of 2004.The scammers also started to use more sophisticated technologies in recent months. The latest generation of phishing scammers uses several methods to trick users, including pop-up graphics to mast the true web URL of the phishing site and the installation of Spywares and Trojans on victim’s computer. The perpetrators also take advantage of security bugs in web browsers, in which the URL in the address bar appears to be for one site but is, in fact, a link to a totally different site.A new Windows worm under the name "Korgo" is able to infiltrate into victim’s system with a key logging Trojan, steal information that the victim input in web forms and secretly transmit to designated server. There are a number of variants of this worm and they are spreading rapidly. However, Microsoft in April came up with a patch to seal this glitch. Many computers without the patch are still vulnerable to this potentially dangerous worm.A U.S. Treasury report provides consumers with steps to prevent and report phishing scams:- Do not respond to or open any e-mail that warns that an account is about to be closed. Contact the company directly by phone and inquire of this e-mail.- Do not submit financial information unless there is a symbol for a locked padlock on the browser's status bar. Also look for the https:// at the beginning of the Web address. If both of these signs are absent, the Web site is not secure.- Always review your bank statement and credit card statements immediately upon receipt.- Verify the domestic telephone number listed on the Web site through directory assistance or other reliable sources and call the number. Many phishing attacks have originated outside the U.S. and don't have a domestic number.- Report suspicious activity or if you have been defrauded to the FTC and the FBI.- Phishing e-mails can be forwarded to uce@ftc.gov. Complaints can be filed at www.ftc.gov. Phishing attacks can also be reported to the Internet Fraud Complaint Center at www.ifccfbi.gov.Other cautionary measures you should take in order to protect yourself are:- Since most of the phishing emails come through spam, get a spam filter and install on your computer.- If you suspect a phishing attempt, report immediately to the bank. Every bank web site has a link or a toll-free number to report scams. Don't be ashamed if you were tricked into divulging account information. If you report it immediately, your account will be protected until you receive a new PIN. - Change your password and PINs regularly. Banks advise that you use separate PINs and passwords for different accounts, that way if one gets compromised, your entire financial life won’t be revealed.- If you are a frequent user of EBay, download its Web browser toolbar, a small program that runs with a user's Web browser. It flashes red when the user visits a possible spoof site. The toolbar uses a database of spoof site URLs, submitted by customers and is updated quite often.- Check your computer frequently for possible Trojan virus.

Create Your Own Home Business by Darrell Knox

A home business is by far the best way to support yourself if you just cannot stand working for others for less money than you need to survive. It’s also the best way to get out of a good paying job that just takes up too much of your precious short life working for someone else. Let’s face it, you probably know someone who has a home business. Do they look happy to you? Do they complain as much about work and money as you do? Probably not. This is not to say that you should quit your job and start a home business. You should start one while you still have your job. Some people complain that this is hard and takes up too much of their free time. In the beginning a home business is not profitable – you have to work at it like anything else. Some people eventually go back to work blaming some program or home business opportunity that wasted their time and didn’t work. Unfortunately, the odds are actually that they didn’t work hard enough and stick to their dreams. Many people allow themselves to believe that there are no legitimate home businesses. It’s easier to go to work thinking this than to let themselves truly believe that a home business is possible, profitable, or liberating. But if you truly believe there are no good home businesses, that they are all scams, then what are the thousands of people doing everyday in your hometown driving around during work hours? You know the ones. The people you see on your day off that are driving around and standing in line in places you frequent on your days off. They can’t ALL be on their days off too! You have wondered, just like I did, what it is these people do. I know you have. Many of them have their own home business. Many of the people you see at the post office who know the clerks by first name are shipping packages of goods they sold on auction at Ebay or their own websites. The cars parked in the county clerk’s office in your home town. Some are employees there, but not all of them. Many of the people coming and going from that office in your town (during business hours when everyone should be working, right?) are real estate brokers, or no money down buyers and sellers looking up local property information. Home business owners are all around you, everyday. The home business industry is quite literally booming and is getting larger exponentially by the month. The worst thing you could ever do to yourself, that is a life-altering belief system, is let yourself believe it is all a scam or that there is no room for YOUR creativity and YOUR value as a home business owner of any kind! Take me for instance! I own my own website and I sell information, business tools for home business people who work on the internet, and services of all kinds. I work from home. I am one of those people you see during the week driving around town while you wonder what it is I do for a living. Nice to meet you!

Internet Home Business Secrets That Payoff! by Jeff Smith

I can picture you exactly where I was just a few shortyears ago -- Sitting in another useless meeting organized by a group of senior managers that have a combined IQ less than yourown child at 3-months old. Around in circles you go, no progress again today and only those who play the game the best will collect the bigger paychecks - but even they can't outlast this gameof roulette can they?Listen - I get asked often, even by my own wife, "why are you so driven!" It's true, these days I am passionate about just about everything I do - especially my internet home business.Why?Is it the thought of a new porsche sitting in my drivewaythat motivated me to succeed with my internet home business?What about cruising up and down the Pacific Coast in my new yacht?Maybe it's being able to take a dream vacation to Australiaand New Zealand?Nope!
